ECE Ph.D. student Pavan Turaga, advised by Prof. Rama Chellappa (ECE/UMIACS/CS), was chosen to participate in the 4th annual IBM Watson Emerging Leaders in Multimedia Workshop. IBM selected a group of only 12 students for the event from a large number of applications.

The event will take place on October 9-10, 2008 at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, NY. It will consist of research presentations, an interactive group discussion, meetings between students and IBM researchers, and demos about IBM Multimedia Research. IBM will also reimburse expenses for the students' travel and accommodations.

Aswin Sankaranarayanan, another Chellappa Ph.D. advisee, was previously selected to participate in the 2007 IBM Watson Emerging Leaders in Multimedia Workshop.
