Alumnus Gupta Named Chair of MD InfraGard Cyber Security Group

Alumnus Ajay Gupta (B.S. '95, M.S. '98, Electrical Engineering) has been named chair of the MD InfraGard Cyber Security Special Interest Group, a public-private partnership run by the FBI to foster two-way communication on homeland security issues.

Gupta currently serves as President of Gsecurity, Inc., which he founded 2002. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with over 14 years experience performing a range of professional projects for corporations, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and higher educational institutions at both the hands-on and management level. Gupta has served as an invited lecturer for numerous public and private organizations across the globe and serves on and chairs many security and industry-related associations, including Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley's Information Security and Data Privacy transition work group.

Gupta also is the author of two books on computer security, Hack I.T. and Defend I.T. During his time as a student at Maryland, he was advised by Professor John Baras (ECE/ISR).
