Steve Marcus Honored as SIAM Fellow

Professor Steven I. Marcus (ECE/ISR) has been elected a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM).

Consisting of over 12,000 members, SIAM fosters the development of applied mathematical and computational methodologies needed in academic, manufacturing, research and development, service and consulting organizations, government, and military organizations worldwide. Marcus is in the inaugural class of SIAM Fellows, consisting of society members who have made outstanding contributions in their fields.

Marcus is a former chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a former director of the Institute for Systems Research. He will be honored this weekend with a symposium at the University of Maryland titled "Advances in Discrete Event, Nonlinear, and Stochastic Systems Modeling and Control."
