Alumnus Tran Receives Minority Business Leader Award

Alumnus Paul Tran (B.S. ’95, EE), President and CEO of Elucid Solutions, was honored by the Washington Business Journal with the prestigious Minority Business Leader Award last month. The second annual Minority Business Leader Awards program honors the entrepreneurial drive, creativity and success of Greater Washington's minority business leaders. Tran was recognized at a ceremony at the the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, DC on April 2, 2009.

Born in Vietnam, Paul Tran came to the United States and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland in 1995. He started his career as a Software Engineer for NASA at TRW and later worked on government classified systems for Lockheed Martin. In 1997, he worked at Fannie Mae developing complex financial systems.

He later started his own company, Elucid Solutions, which he modeled after a culture devoted to client service, rewarding employee loyalty, and incorporating charitable giving and community service.
