Vishkin Named Program Chair for 2006 SPAA Conference

Professor Uzi Vishkin (ECE/UMIACS) has been named Program Chair for the 18th annual Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Symposium on Parallelism in Algorithms and Architectures (SPAA). The conference will be held July 31 - August 2, 2006 in Cambridge, Ma.

The SPAA conference seeks to lead the way in solutions that encompass algorithmics, software and hardware. The SPAA conference is becoming a particularly significant annual event, given the emerging renaissance of parallel computing and the fact that chip multiprocessing is the wave of the future for all major hardware vendors.

Vishkin brings to SPAA a breadth and depth of expertise in parallel algorithms and architectures. His PRAM-on-chip work has encompassed the spectrum of parallel algorithmics, software and hardware.
