Chellappa Receives IEEE Technical Achievement Award

Prof. Rama Chellappa

Minta Martin Professor of Engineering Dr. Rama Chellappa (ECE/UMIACS/CS) has received a 2008 Technical Achievement Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computer Society. He was recognized for "fundamental and pioneering contributions to face and human motion modeling and recognition from still images and video sequences." Dr. Chellappa is the only person to have received this recognition from both the IEEE Computer Society and the IEEE Signal Processing Society.

The award includes a certificate and $2,000 honorarium for outstanding and innovative contributions to the fields of computer and information science and engineering or computer technology.
