Title: Radio Analytics for Human Sensing, Recognition and Detection
Abstract:
Human sensing and detection technologies play a pivotal role in enhancing convenience, safety, and accessibility in smart homes and vehicles. However, indoor sensing methodologies that rely on environmental sensors and cameras often face performance limitations due to varying lighting conditions, coverage areas, and privacy issues. Radio analytics, which relies on wireless signals, are emerging as a promising solution for smart car monitoring and smart home sensing. In our preliminary work, we implemented child presence detection using a commercial WiFi chipset and evaluated it in various environments and different car models. Extensive experiments demonstrate the robustness of the system in real-world scenarios. Furthermore, we utilize a 60GHz millimeter-wave radar to develop a high-resolution human imaging system using a deep neural network. Our experiments confirmed the feasibility of human identification and the potential for deployment in unseen environments. For the proposed research, we will explore mmWave multimedia fusion to fuse two mmWave imaging and sound sensing capabilities to improve sensing performance in radio analytics.
