Sounded like he didn't like the Knights of the Lance (who hold in check wild creatures) much.  This might be a clue to the Elven position in general.
	Athena	Owl; "familiar" of Lady Nox.
	Azsara'al Rex	An Imperator of Hell. Known domain is Madness (was previously Lord Rodrigo).
	Bagheera	One of the "familiar" cats of Miranda.
	Lady Charlena Bank	Previous power of Night; presumed dead. Elena inherited her SoulShard. "...she was new in her office."	Cassania Sevadaros: "...she was new in her office."
	Lord Luther von Bek	Decay's Regal.  Soulshard of Lord Entropy, of the Locust Court.  "highest servant of Entropy Regius Rex."	A right arrogant... something. Doesn't like Redtooth for some reason.  "The Locust Court takes a  great interest in you:  We don't like surprises."
	Bone	One of the "familiar" wolves of Lord Harald Kesling.
	Lady Celeste Elanor de Borne	Marchessa of Music. Soulshard of Sartael, of Locus Xypnios.

	Sir Russell "Rusty" Burne	A member of the Knights Protector.
	Sir (Lord Captain) Rhys Cadfan	Leader of the Knights of the Ancient Grove, which take care of the important and sacred sites of Xypnios.	For some reason doesn't like Lord Hawksman. "More aggressive, a firebrand, and a man of outward passions."
	Lord Leandrus DiCastro	Power of Woods. Soulshard of ?, of Locus Rustling Branches.	First contact made with Abbie, by an unsolicited and unexpected letter.
	Cat's Paw	Miranda's horse.
	Michael Coglonese, Jr.	Ex-drug dealer from Philadelphia.  Found dead in the subwa, under highly suspicious conditions---no one remembers him getting on the subway, for one thing.	He was the son of an Alderman.  Celeste has a feeling that the murder is somehow relevant to Xypnios.  It's also probably relevant to the Power of Law Enforcement, and maybe Vengeance.

	Lady Dana St. Croix	Power of Blood.  Soulshard of Gabriel, of Locus...	A younger woman, wearing blood red when Celeste first sees her.  Slight French accent.
	Dreamlight	Elena's horse.
	Lord Entropy Rex	An Imperator of... His allegience---whatever it is, it's not Heaven or Light. His domains are Desecration, Decay (von Bek), Poison and Dust.	Harald Kesling: "He leads the Council of Four, because prophesies say he will mount the last defense of this world against the Excrucians. His Nobles manage the Locust Court and carry out his will. Even Imperators will not protect us from his decrees and punishments."
	Damon Everitt	Talented semi-professional musician. Part of an independent band that plays extraordinary string instruments, and also member of the Hidden Brotherhood of the Wildlord.	Has met only Celeste so far.
	Sir (Lord Captain) Bearach Mac Failbhe	Leader of the Order of Knights of the Scented Track, which is Xypnios' internal police force equivalent.	Worried about Redtooth, werewolves, shamblers and sirens. Not very enthusiastic about working with the Aratequar, even less so than the other Captains.  Elena wants to be the patroness of this Knight Order.

	Foppie	A large ginger-colored housecat that belonged to Leo Murkowski, Philly cop.	Has an interesting collar: "my beast sought to mate with another of his kind...the female did, for reasons I do not understand, give me a gift.... She told me that if I wore this, I would know when my beast was in danger, and this has always been true."  Who was this female?  "She" spoke to cats, too.
	Gabriel Rex	Imperator. He is an Angel. His Domains are Fire (Mulroy), Vengeance (Henderson ), Blades and Blood (St. Croix).

	Ghost	One of the "familiar" cats of Miranda.
	Erin McGowan	Abigail's first Anchor, ex-friend and bloodsister.
	Hal'dina	A council of wise among Xypnios elves.
	Sir (Lord Captain) William Hawksman	Leader of the Order of Knights Protector, which focus on the defense of the Chancel from outside threats.	For some reason doesn't like Lord Cadfan. "Solid and considered, and something of a conservative."
	Mistress Hecate	Ruler of the Tower of Magic.
	Lady Katherie Henderson	Duchess of Vengeance.  Soulshard of Gabriel, of Locus...	A willowy blonde woman given to wearing black trenchcoats and leather; she bears a sword that burns like the sun when drawn, which might bear the mark of her Brother Patrick of Flames or simply her Ymera.  Doesn't like Miller, Law Enforcement, for obvious reasons plus a negative history.
	Lady Elena Hernandez	Marchessa of Night and Viscountess of Dreams. "Lady Nox". Soulshard of Sartael, of Locus Xypnios.
	Marie and Valerie Hernandez	Twin sisters of Elena.  One of them is her first Anchor---we do not know which one.	"The exact one is deliberately vague."
	Lord Darren Hofstadter	Viscount of Stealth. Soulshard of Sartael, of Locus Xypnios.
	Lord Qang Hsuing	Previous power of Stealth; presumed dead. Darren inherited his SoulShard.	Cassania Sevadaros: "...brilliant, and ruthless. He did not hold himself to the same purpose, however, and we often found ourselves in opposition. Though there was a certain Wild sense of honor to his activities, his purposes crossed very often with Khatibu's, and they were constantly opposed. Marquis Hsuing guarded the prerogatives of his estate jealously."
	Master Kobashi Ichiro	Anchor of Darren.  His ex-Sensei in a school called Golden Panther.	Old Japanese Master of "defensive" arts.
	Lord Vladimir Igorski	Viscount of Stars and Gems. Soulshard of Salgiel, of Locus Icefell.	"Someone's favourite Russian grandfather". The real Noble that "calls the shots" in Icefell.
	The Ingolote	Elder elf, respected in the elf society, in charge of flowers etc.	"But I am Ingolote here in the Lake of the Skies,...and here there is no competition. Here, there is harmony and cultivation. I would that it remain so." Lake of the Skies is a lake of moss on treetops.
	Dougie McIntosh	Anchor of Darren.  Like Darren, proficient in espionage etc.	And ex-arch-enemy of Darren.  This was a hated-bond.
	Ivory	One of the "familiar" wolves of Lord Harald Kesling.
	Lord Anthony Jackson	Power of Laughter. Soulshard of ?, of Locus ?.	Possibly of the Dark, considering the impressions given by his first meeting with Elena---who was our first contact to him.
	Keeper of the Pages	Ruler of the Monastery.
	Lord Tom Kell	Power of Oaths.  Soulshard of Rex Aparitax, of Locus...	"...an older man, heavyset, stocky, who would probably look something like a professional truck driver or stevadore... [hair] more salt than pepper now...he [looks] with exactly the expression one would use if one were staring over the rims of a pair of spectacles....the type that Celeste wouldn't have wanted to meet in a dark alley..."
	Lord Harald Kesling	Marquis of Wolves and Hounds. Soulshard of Salgiel, of Locus Icefell.
	Lord Khatibu	Marquis of Politics. Soulshard of Ba'al Torifah, of Locus Carthage.
	Lady Miranda Kinnis	Viscountess of Cats. Soulshard of Sartael, of Locus Xypnios.	Meow.
	Lord Jagadeesan Lal	Previous noble of Fear. Presumed dead. Abigail inherited his soulshard.	Cassania Sevadaros: "...might almost have been one of [Familia Carthage]. He used his estate with the precision of a knife in the dark, and his purposes often aligned with our own."
	Lariant	Elf. The Aratequar's lieutenant.
	Lady Cynthia Marsdin	Winter's Regal. Soulshard of Salgiel, of Locus Icefell.
	Sir William Mead	Knight of the Order of Knights Protector. Right hand man to their leader, Sir Hawksman.	In his mid-thirties. Has caught Celeste's eye.
	Lord Miller	Viscount of Law Enforcement. Soulshard of Aparitax Rex, of Locus...	Black sunglasses, semi-permanent sneer/smile, arrogant bearing, formal three-piece suits, and doesn't have a first name---connect the dots. Doesn't like Katherie, the Lady of Vengeance.  Besides the blindingly obvious reason, they seem to have a history.
	Milkweed	A soldier's horse in Xypnios.	Brave, poor beast---had to carry von Bek in his first visit to Awakening.
	Lord Parker Mundro	Duke of Addiction. Soulshard of... of Locus....	Elena met him at Michael Woodridge's Chancel, as Woodridge's guest. "...somewhat skeevey looking man of indeterminate age."
	Sergeant Leo Murkowski	Philadelphia police officer; Foppie's ex-owner.  Presumed dead.	Or at least in deep trouble, because he killed the Judge in the City Court in an apparent nettling attempt by (again presumably) the new Power of Madness.  The targets were the Powers of Vengeance and Law Enforcement.
	Lord Patrick Mulroy	Duke of Flames. Soulshard of Gabriel , of Locus....	Something seems to be going on between him and Cynthia Marsdin, that Harald Kesling likes to poke at.
	Nenhirma	Xypnios elf. By the Aratequar's description, a musician.	The Aratequar suggested that "The commission of a piece, after the style of mortals, or a post of some time as musician in the Castle would go far with him," as a reward.
	Otherworld	What the inhabitants of Xypnios call the mundane world.
	Lord Carlo Pariarca	Baronet of Spiders. Soulshard of Ba'al Torifah, of Locus Carthage.
	Phantom	One of the "familiar" cats of Miranda.
	Quickbeat	Celeste's horse.
	Quiet	Darren's horse.
	Redtooth	The resident Dragon of Xypnios. Guards the southeastern gate (or at least lives in that region), which connects back to the mundane world.	Has met Elena and talked to her. Maybe rather unfortunately named after a particularly nasty Rite.
	Lord Rodrigo ...	Previous Power of Madness. Was the Soulshard of Azsara'al, an Imperator of Hell. Dead.	Found with his heart torn out in the University of Cambridge research psychology building. Cynthia Marsdin assumes this was the Redtooth Rite.
	Salgiel Rex	Imperator of the Familia Icefell. He is an Angel. His Domains are Wolves and Hounds (Kesling), Stars and Gems (Igorski) and Winter (Marsdin). Rules over Locus Icefell, connected by a northern gate to Xypnios.	Elena was an emissary to His Chancel. Was not accepted into His Presence, but did negotiate some border agreements.
	Sartael Rex	Imperator of the Familia Xypnios. He is a WildLord. His domains are Night and Dreams (Hernandez), Cats (Kinnis), Fear (Taylor), Stealth (Hofstadter) and Music (de Borne).	Sometimes called "Lord of the Isle" by some Chancel inhabitants. Seriously wounded; "Sleeping Lord". At least one of his wounds is from an Abhorrent Weapon, an (half-) arrow in his eye.
	Lady Theresa Saxon	Duchess of War. Soulshard of Ba'al Torifah, of Locus Carthage.
	Shamblers	Creatures that reside in Xypnios' southwestern swamps. Have a "Master".	Lesser Divination or Realm: "...creatures that live outside the crypt to the southeast. They're somewhat like zombies, only they're not. They're a little bit like rotted mulch, except they're not that, either. They're definitely terrifying, though. The people of Gertrude refuse to set foot anywhere south of the stream below them, and they tend to avoid even going near it."
	Sirens	Creatures that reside in Xypnios' streams.	Lesser Divination or Realm: "The sirens don't go out of their way to harass people, but that might be because they can't. They're water creatures, and can't leave the streams without difficulty. However, they do make crossing the streams difficult, because they lure men (and women) to their deaths occasionally."
	Lord Sydney Sheffield	Previous power of Cats; presumed dead. Miranda Kinnis inherited his SoulShard.	Cassania Sevadaros: "...he rarely ventured forth from the Hidden Mountain, except to protect his estate."
	Lord Sigorsgy	The previous power of Wolves and Hounds. Presumed dead; soulshard inherited by Harald Kesling.
	Lady Cassania Sevadaros	Viscountess of Games. Soulshard of Ba'al Torifah, of Locus Carthage.
	Sir Richard Stout	A Knight belonging to the Knights Protector.
	The Talksong	Miraculous secret way of conversation between the nobles of Xypnios.	Described in the posts in the Uninvited Guest threads, dated May 2, and "The Talksong", dated Apr. 29.
	Tawreled and Tawrephil	"The Ring of Forest and Elfs" and "The Sundered Ring". They signify the command of the forces of Elfs and Men in Xypnios.	The Aratequar wears them at the moment.
	Lady Abigail Taylor	Viscountess of Fear. Soulshard of Sartael, of Locus Xypnios.
	Jim Thompson	Anchor of Elena.	He  was a mentor to her when she was mortal.
	Sir (Lord Captain) James Tower	Leader of the Knights of the Lance, which is concerned with the wild creatures of the chancel Xypnios.	A quiet man.
	Lord Arnold ("Arnie") Thorne	Erus of Locus Xypnios. Previously, manager of the Ren Faire whose grounds, staff and visitors have been enChancelled.
	Ba'al Torifah Rex	Imperator of the Familia Carthage by the Endless Sea. He is a (Darklord, I think) . His domains are Games (Sevadaros), War (Saxon), Politics (Khatibu) and Spiders (Pariarca).
	Timothy Vahn	Anchor of Miranda.
	Werewolves	Creatures that reside in Xypnios' western hills.	Lesser Divination of Realm: "The werewolves tend to be solitary creatures. They do have a rough society, if you can imagine a society of hermits who turn into serial killers according to the phase of the moon. Ordinarily, they tend to stay away from the settled regions. Occasionally, on dark nights, one stalks into one of the villages."
	Iain West	"Emissary of War"	Maybe an Anchor or a trusted servant of the Power of War.
	Lady Liriel White	Previous power of Music; presumed dead. Celeste inherited her SoulShard.	Cassania Sevadaros: "...was a friend to none except those of her Familia, but her skill with the Rites made her a valued ally. At the beginning of her tenure, she became problematic...until I convinced her that her Ritual talents were best directed... elsewhere."
