Instructions for vieweing a gzipped postscript file on your PC
If you have Windows95, go here instead. Otherwise follow these steps.
- Select the appropriate postscript viewer for your computer. For example rops3244.zip for Windows95 and rops1644.zip for Windows3.X. Save the zip file onto your hard drive.
- Next, you need to download a decompressor/extractor. This package can be located here. (If you would like a different decompressor/extractor, look in a software library and perform a serach on gzip).
- Click on download and save the zip file onto your hard drive.
- Now that you have the 2 zip files, you need to unzip them. If you don't already have pkunzip.exe, click here to get it. Follow the directions on that page.
- To unzip the files, make sure that the executable file, pkunzip, is in the same directory as the file you want to unzip. From the file manager in Windows, select run under the file menu at the top. You now have to type in the command line: "pkunzip filename". Do this for the 2 zipped files.
- After unzipping both files, you need to setup the postscript viewer. Do this by running setup.exe from the file manager in Windows. This file should be in the directory in which you unzipped all of your files. You might need to exit the directory and then re-enter it again or refresh your screen.
- Before using the postscript viewer, you'll need to run the Font Scan. You can do this by running fontscan from the file manager or double clicking on the icon created after the setup.
- To view gzipped postscript files from Netscape, save the file onto your computer. Then at the directory of untgz.exe, type in "untgz -d filename.gz filename.ps". This will convert the .gz file to .ps. Then you can run Rops by clicking on the icon and openning up the .ps file.
- Test by going here.
