With over 85 faculty, research scientists, and engineers; state-of-the-art research facilities; 400 graduate students and 650 undergraduates;

more than $40 millio in annual research expenditures, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Maryland's A. James Clark School of Engineering has
one of the strongest research programs in the
nation. These activities are closely tied with and supported by numerous
affiliated research institutes and centers in the university, encouraging collaborative and cross-disciplinary research projects. The department and the affiliated research units feature more than 50 state-of-the-art laboratories supporting the research endeavors of the faculty, scientists, graduate and undergraduate students. Much of the department's research is in partnership with industry, government research labs or other universities.
