Khaligh Serves as Program Chair for VPPC 2011

Professor Alireza Khaligh served as the Program Chair of the 2011 IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion Conference (VPPC) held in Chicago, Illinois, from September 6 – 9, 2011. VPPC is the flagship conference of IEEE in the areas of vehicle power and propulsion.

Attended by 500 participants, the conference created a collaborative learning environment for individuals from academia, industry, and government. Experts in industry and research alike were able to discuss and exchange ideas in the fields of sustainable transportation systems, electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, as well as air, sea and undersea vehicles.

Participants attended five keynote sessions, thirty technical sessions, two poster presentation sessions, and eleven panel discussions. Papers and presentations featured at the conference included work from 800 authors/co-authors and 21 countries with many papers from industry.

Students, under the direction of Dr. Khaligh, presented papers on integrated AC-DC and DC-DC converters for plug-in hybrid electric cars.
