Resensys LLC Joins TERP Startup Lab

Resensys LLC, a company developing self-powered, wireless, distributed sensors for monitoring structures such as bridges, buildings, and pipelines, has joined the TERP Startup Lab. The company's patent-pending technology, invented by electrical and computer engineering assistant research scientist and alumnus Mehdi Kalantari, will detect strain, deformation, and cracks forming in structures, and provide early warnings when problems arise. Resensys' sensors attach to existing structures. The company joined Mtech's VentureAccelerator Program in July, 2008.

Resensys took second place and $6K in the alumni division of the 2008 University of Maryland $50K Business Plan Competition. The company received a $25K grant from SAIC in January 2009, and a $165,750 Maryland Industrial Partnerships (MIPS) project award in February 2009 to work with electrical and computer engineering professor Martin Peckerar to further develop its technology.
