Chellappa Delivers Plenary Lecture on Pattern Recognition at IEEE Conference

Dr. Rama Chellappa, Minta Martin Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science, delivered a plenary lecture on "Pattern Recognition in Video" at the IEEE International Conference on Image Processing in Atlanta, Ga., on October 9. The event attracted more than 900 conference participants.

The talk focused on emerging video-based pattern recognition problems in homeland security, healthcare, battlefield awareness, and video indexing applications. Chellappa discussed design principles that allow for variances in illumination, pose, articulation and sensor parameters in video. He also discussed his innovative research in human gait recognition.
