S. D. Bechtel Jr. Foundation Establishes Scholarship

The S. D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation has pledged $45,000 a year for four years to establish seven full scholarships that will support students majoring in electrical and computer engineering, as well as civil and environmental engineerin, and mechanical engineering. The scholarship will especially help underrepresented minorities majoring in these areas.

The foundation said it hopes to promote the visibility of the engineering profession through its gift, as well as attract and recognize talented young engineering students and increase the number of underrepresented students in the engineering profession, particularly women and minorities.
