Ephremides Wins Information Theory Award

ECE/ISR Professor Anthony Ephremides

Professor Anthony Ephremides (ECE/ISR) is the recipient of the 2006 IEEE Information Theory Society Aaron Wyner Distinguished Service Award. Ephremides received the award in recognition of his service and leadership in the field of information theory.

The award was established in memory of Aaron Wyner, who devoted his life and energy to the cause of Information Theory. Ephremides is the third recipient; previous award recipients included Jim Massey and Ian Blake.

Ephremides will receive the award at the ISIT Awards Luncheon, which will take place in July at the 2006 IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory in Seattle, Wa.
