Alumnus Korman Chair of ECE Department at GWU

Dr. Can E. Korman

ECE alumnus Dr. Can E. Korman was promoted to Department Chair of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the George Washington University (GWU) in Washington, DC.

Korman, a former advisee of ECE Professor Isaak Mayergoyz, earned all three of his advanced degrees — a B.S. in 1985, his M.S. in 1987, and his Ph.D. in 1990 — at the University of Maryland.

Korman joined the ECE department at GWU in 1991 as an assistant professor. He has worked in the areas of Systems, Science, Networks and Control, and his research interests include microelectronics, VLSI, magnetics, numerical modeling, and digital signal processing. Korman was the recipient of the Eta Kappa Nu Association's Teacher of the Year Award for the academic year 1993-94 and the Engineer's Council Faculty of the Year Award for the academic year 1994-95. In 1997, he was promoted to Associate Professor. He was named ECE Department Chair at GWU for the 2005-2006 academic year.
