Advice to Incoming Students:

Social interaction and communication are crucial for getting the most out of anything and aiming for the stars.

Imran
talks about ECE @ Maryland:

"Once I decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, I spent time looking at schools. After a lot of painstaking research, I was naturally drawn to the University of Maryland's prestigious reputation and research facilities for engineering.

It is a great source of pride to be an alumnus of Maryland. It was truly wonderful to see such a tremendous diversity of students and professors at Maryland.

College Park is an international melting pot. I believe that such an environment creates an atmosphere that is not only conducive to learning, but also very beneficial for social assimilation and interaction.

I found the students and professors at Maryland to be very friendly and helpful.

I am also grateful for the vast opportunities that Maryland has for undergraduates, such as the Undergraduate Teaching Fellowship (UTF). I gained invaluable experience while I was a UTF for the ENEE 114 course.

Outside the classroom, I enjoyed devoting time to my religion Islam, hanging out with my friends, listening to music, and going to the cinema.

After graduating, I decided to attend MIT to earn a Masters and Ph.D. degree in the field of Electrical Engineering and Physics. I have a profound interest in nanotechnology, and I wish to combine the fields of Electrical Engineering and Physics to invent innovative technologies that will improve human health and help ensure the economic well being of the world. I hope that one day I'll be able to use my knowledge and talents to make this world a better place for all of mankind, and would love to leave behind a legacy that will be passed on from generation to generation."
