3) Helpful faculty

Advice to Incoming Students:

To get the most out of your experience, find a research advisor that not only works in the area you are interested in, but also is compatible to your personality and needs.

Nicole
talks about ECE @ Maryland:

"I am from Trinidad and Tobago in the West Indies. I completed my BSEE and master's degree at Howard University before coming to the University of Maryland at College Park. Initially, I applied to Maryland because I wanted to study in the DC metro area.

The students at Maryland are varied and from many different cultures, so about the only common thread is that they are all friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is somewhat competitive but fun.

For fun outside the classroom, I usually go to the gym and enjoy seeing a lot of movies and eating out with friends.

I think being in ECE at the University of Maryland has matured me and given me the ability to deal with many different situations that may come up in my future professional life.

My research interests are in mixed signal VLSI design and interfacing and testing designs with live cells."
