Biography:

Charles Silio earned BSEE, MSEE, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He served in the U. S. Army and then joined the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Maryland where he is Associate Professor and has served as Associate Department Chair for Graduate Studies. He has been a National Research Council (NRC) Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate both in the Operations Research Dept., Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA and at the Army Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. He has also served as treasurer of the IEEE Computer Society, chair of its Multiple-valued Logic Technical Committee, program chair for International Symposia on Multiple-valued Logic and as a member of the Computer Engineering and Computer Science Curricula committees for the National Technological University. His work is in computer engineering and digital systems design, and he has supervised 11 completed Ph.D. dissertations and 23 completed M.S. theses. He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, and is a senior member of IEEE, the IEEE Computer Society, and the IEEE Communications Society.

Research Interests:

Design, performance evaluation, and reliability analysis of computer communication networks, computer security, and multiple-valued logic circuits and systems.
