Biography:

A. Yavuz Oruç is Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. His research interests include interconnection networks, quantum packet switching,  computer architecture, and parallel processing. Dr. Oruç was an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute prior to joining University of Maryland in 1988. He served as the Director of the Computer Systems Architecture program at National Science Foundation, and Advisor to the President of Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey. Dr. Oruç received his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Middle East Technical University, University of Wales, and Syracuse University. Dr. Oruç was an associate editor of IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems. He is the co-inventor of CodeMill language, and  is the author of "Handbook of Scientific Proposal Writing," and the Turkish novel, "İkinci Peron." (Second Track, English translation to be released.)
