Directory ID and Email Account

Before being able to access most online resources at the University, you must establish your directory ID and associated password. To establish a directory ID, which will also serve as your university email account, visit www.oit.umd.edu/new/student.html. International students may locate their SID by logging back into their graduate application ASF and clicking on Verify Contact Information.

Once you have established your university email account, please add yourself to the ECE graduate student listserv by emailing listserv@listserv.umd.edu with the message "subscribe ece-gradstudents <Your Name>" in the body of the email. All important announcements are sent to graduate students through this listserv.

Housing

Off-Campus Housing Services posts a listing of housing available in the area, organizes off-campus living fairs, and provides advice about searching for housing.

Parking and Transportation

To apply for a parking permit or get information about commuting to campus, visit the Department of Transportation Services website.

The Graduate Student Life Handbook

The Graduate Student Life Handbook offers advice for graduate students on a variety of issues such as childcare, discounts for graduate students, student ID cards, and ordering textbooks, and additional useful information. It also has a checklist for new graduate students to help you get settled at the University.

ECE Graduate Student Association (ECEGSA)

The ECEGSA is a student-run organization with the mission of building community among ECE graduate students. Each year, the ECEGSA organizes various academic and social events. Stay informed on upcoming events through the ECEGSA calendar as well as participate in the new and current student forums.

If you have user accounts on FacebookTwitter, or LinkedIn, we encourage you to connect with us. Connecting with ECE via social media allows you to get the latest departmental news, network with alumni, industry employers, and fellow students, and remain a part of the ECE community after you graduate.
