Crowdsourcing has become a critical component of today's emerging information technologies and practices. Innovators use it to respond to natural disasters, call attention to human rights abuses, and combine the energy of people, worldwide, in creative and scholarly ways.
FIA Futurists will explore the opportunities and challenges of crowdsourcing:
Craig Newmark, Founder, craigslist and craigconnects
Sam Gregory, Program Director, WITNESS
Jennifer Chan, MD, Director, Global Emergency Medicine, Northwestern University, and the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative
Dan Russell, Googles director of user happiness
Co-sponsored by UMD's Future of Information Alliance (FIA) and by the Smithsonian Institution.
Registration required. Open to all.
