Abstract
In the surprisingly near future, virtual reality is very likely to transform how we interact with information, computers and each other. This talk will discuss why VR is likely to be a jey part of our future, why it is different from anything that has come before, and what that implies for researchers and developers.

Biography
For the last 30 years, Michael Abrash has worked at companies that make graphics hardware, computer-based instrumentation and rendering software. He also has been the GDI lead for the first versions of Windows NT, and worked with John Carmack on Quake. He also worked on Xbox and Xbox 360, and wrote or co-wrote at least four software rasterizers, and worked on VR at Valve.

Alongthe way, Abrash wrote magazine articles and olumns for Dr. Dobb's Journal, PC Techniques, PC Tech Journal and Programmer's Journal, as well as several books. He has been lucky to have more opportunities to work on interesting projects, especially considering he almost failed 6th grade because he spent all his time reading science fiction.
