JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Undergraduate Teaching Fellows
The Department of Electrical Engineering
at University of Maryland, College Park, is looking for qualified students
to work as Undergraduate Teaching Fellows (UTFs) during the next academic
year (Fall 97 / Spring 98). Students must be registered full time in
Electrical Engineering or
Computer Science (or other
closely related) undergraduate program and have completed a minimum of 60
credits. UTFs will be expected to lead a recitation section of the freshman
class ENEE 114
entitled Programming Concepts for Engineers. In addition, they
will be expected to hold regular office hours, grade homeworks, projects,
etc., and help maintain the ENEE 114 Web pages. These positions will
require approximately 13 hours per week for a 15 week period. UTFs will
receive a total stipend of $1,500 per semester (paid bi-weekly).
UTF positions can be renewed for a second year, if desired. This is an
excellent opportunity for students to gain teaching experience.
Requirements for this position include:
- Proficiency with the UNIX operating system and C programming.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
- Good public speaking skills.
- Schedule availability during at least two of the recitation periods,
which are Monday through Friday, 1-3 PM.
