Northrop Grumman Joins Industrial Affiliates Program

The Northrop Grumman Corporation became one of the newest members of the Industrial Affiliates Program last summer.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Calif., Northrop Grumman is a leading designer, systems integrator and manufacturer of military surveillance and combat aircraft, defense electronics and systems, airspace management and information systems, marine propulsion, precision weapons, and commercial and military aerostructures.

Northrop's Electronic Sensors and Systems Division (ESSD), based in Baltimore, Md., is a provider of sophisticated electronic systems for defense and commercial applications. Their diversified portfolio includes more than 3,300 active contracts in areas such as combat, battle management and surveillance, command, control, communications and intelligence (C3I); and naval systems. Advanced defense systems developed by the ESSD include: Fire Control Systems and Avionics; Airborne Surveillance and Command and Control; Air Defense Systems; Sensors, ASW, Power and Propulsion; Space-Borne Sensing and Communications; as well as Sytems Integration and C3I.

In the commercial sector, ESSD has been an innovator in adapting leading-edge sensor, processor and communications technologies for use by governments, communities, businesses and individuals. Examples of these innovations include: Air Traffic Control and Air Space Management; Remote Sensing for Public Safety and Law Enforcement; Maritime Sensors and Electric Vehicle Propulsion; and Information and Automation Systems.

The ESSD is sponsoring two undergraduate scholarships this year.
