ECE News Story URL Shortener Now Available URL Shortener Now Available

EIT has launched a URL shortener that allows faculty, staff, and students to create and share University of Maryland-branded links in email, Facebook, Twitter, and other communications. provides the ability to create custom links, track URL clicks, as well as generate links from a bookmarklet which you can drag to your browser’s bookmarks toolbar.

The idea responsible for the’ creation came from a student, who suggested that implementing a UM-based URL shortener would enhance the university’s social networking presence and provide insight into our online influence.

You can get started creating your own links by visiting and pasting a long URL into the URL shortener box. Simply copy the resulting link, and use it in your next tweet!
