Liu Delivers Keynote on Multimedia Forensics at IEEE ICME
July 10, 2006

Liu photoProfessor K. J. Ray Liu (ECE/ISR) delivered a keynote plenary on the subject of multimedia forensics at the IEEE 2006 International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) in Toronto on July 10.

The lecture, titled "Multimedia Forensics: Where Sherlock Holmes Meets Signal Processing," addressed the current challenges in developing new multimedia forensics technology to safeguard digital content. In the talk, Liu focused on three multimedia forensic approaches: traitor tracing forensics, behavior forensics, and non-intrusive component forensics, and discussed how each method involves different technical issues and different applications of signal processing tools.

Liu has been pioneering the emerging field of multimedia forensics, recently publishing a book titled “Multimedia Fingerprinting Forensics for Traitor Tracing,” and earning best paper awards from the IEEE Signal Processing Society and European Signal Processing Association.
