ACADEMIC ADVISOR for UNDERGRADUATE STUDIES
Responsibilities include academic advising of undergraduate students majoring in electrical and computer engineering, assisting with related administrative matters, helping coordinate and execute various procedures and events related to academics and student activities, participating in recruitment and outreach activities, supporting various special events and programs, and assisting with preparation of statistics and reports. A Bachelor's degree is required with a minimum of two years of experience.
Minimum Qualifications: The position involves a great deal of student contact and requires excellent interpersonal skills. Successful candidates will possess energy, enthusiasm, and a positive approach to work, excellent rapport with diverse groups of people, and a commitment to the educational development of students. A Master's degree in college Student Personnel/Higher Education Administration/Counseling/Psychology or related field is preferred. Experience in academic advising, student personnel administrations, and/or counseling is preferred. Proficiency with Excel and knowledge of HTML is a plus.

COORDINATOR FOR THE UNDERGRADUATE OFFICE
Manages the day-to-day operations of the undergraduate office in a department of 85 full- and part-time academic faculty and 750 undergraduate ECE students.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Two years progressively responsible experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of office practices. Skill in managing processes; skill
in organizing and executing multiple assignments under specific time
constraints. Ability to use standard word processing software; ability to use spreadsheet software and to use analytical techniques to compile departmental statistics; ability to understand and interpret University policies in the area of academics, ability to communicate effectively orally
and in writing; ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters discreetly.
Preferences: Experience in an academic environment is preferred.

PROFESSOR AND CHAIR, DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL & COMPUTER ENGINEERING
Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Responsibilities include leadership of a research-active academic department, program development with industrial partners, and stewardship of strong academic programs. Applicants should have an earned doctorate in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field; strong leadership ability with proven interpersonal skills; a proven research record with evidence of international recognition, and a commitment to engineering education. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 84 regular and affiliate faculty members and 35 staff. The research activities and educational programs include communications and signal processing, computer engineering, controls, electrophysics, and microelectronics. With more than 800 undergraduate students, 700 graduate students and annual research expenditures of more than $37 million, the department is a central education and research unit at the University of Maryland. At the undergraduate level, the department offers degree programs in Computer Engineering (in collaboration with the department of Computer Science) and Electrical Engineering.

TENURE-TRACK AND TENURED FACULTY POSITIONS
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland seeks exceptionally qualified candidates for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions to begin in August 2012 in the area of: Cyber Security. This includes all aspects of security-oriented research in computer engineering, communications, signal processing, and networking, at the hardware, software, protocol, algorithm, system, and physical layer levels.
In addition, exceptional candidates will be considered in all research areas of interest to the department. Joint appointments are possible with other departments and with affiliated University of Maryland institutes.
Appointments at all ranks will be considered. Applicants should have received or expect to receive their PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline prior to August 2012. Candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor should be creative and adaptable, and should have a high potential for both teaching and research. Candidates for the ranks of Associate and Full Professor should have distinguished records in research and a strong interest in educational programs.
