Give to ECE: Great Expectations Campaign

Scholarship Opportunity for M.S. Students in ECE:
Lockheed Martin Masters Level Information Assurance Assistanceships

Lockheed Martin

Lockheed Martin will award Lockheed Martin assistanceship(s) to outstanding Masters Level
students who meet eligibility criteria. The goal of the assistanceship is to increase the number of qualified students entering the field of Information Assurance and Cyber Security and align those interests to increase the Information Assurance and Cyber Security skill set within Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Award Provisions:
• Assistanceships are awarded to first year Masters Level students. The assistanceship is renewable for a second year given, in Lockheed Martin’s discretion, based on success of the student’s participation in a summer salaried Lockheed Martin internship, continued exceptional academic progress and financial availability at the time or renewal application. Qualified candidates for the assistanceship, either as a first time recipient or as a renewal recipient, are expected to have interest in post-graduate employment with Lockheed Martin.
• Assistanceship recipients may receive two (one in fall, one in spring) $8,500 assistanceships (Academic Year $17,000) to help cover their educational expenses at University of Maryland. Assistanceship recipients must maintain a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.00 scale) and be in good academic standing for the duration of financial support. Lockheed Martin reserves the right to withhold funding if this criteria is not met.
• Assistanceship recipients will be assigned a mentor from Lockheed Martin.

Research Internship:
Awardees are expected to participate in a paid, approximate 10-week, continuous, off-campus research internship at Lockheed Martin, if offered, during the summer(s) following each academic year of support. Academic credit may be available for the research internship dependent upon your University program and internship.

Eligibility Criteria:
The Lockheed Martin Masters Level Assistanceship program welcomes applications from
all qualified individuals and strongly encourages minorities, women, and persons with disabilities to apply.
Students must be U.S. citizens at the time of assistanceship application.
• Students must be majoring in an Information Assurance related area.
• You must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.00 scale) and be
in good academic standing with University of Maryland at the time of application.
• You are ineligible to apply if you have any commitments such as: a co-op program, or study abroad that would prevent you from attending school full-time or from participating full-time in an approximate 10-week summer internship following academic year support.

Application Details and Process:
A review panel comprised of Lockheed Martin technologists and leaders will evaluate applications. Assessments will be based on the student's academic record, research interests,
and reference letters. The student offered an assistanceship will have time to review the final
