Derek Blume Memorial Scholarship
Recipient Type: Electrical & Computer Engineering undergraduates
Eligibility:
Derek Blume graduated from the University's A. James Clark School of Engineering in December 2003 with a degree in computer engineering. Derek passed away on July 29, 2006, at the tender age of 25. To honor Derek's memory and assist students at his alma mater, his family and friends established an endowed fund to support students enrolled in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University. Bodharamik Scholarship
Recipient Type: Undergraduate
Eligibility:
Academic Merit. Awards are renewable up to 4 years providing the recipient continues to meet all eligibility requirements and maintains good academic standing with the University.
Description:
This scholarship is awarded to a maximum of six talented engineering students each year enrolled in the Clark School of Engineering. It was created by Dr. Adisai Bodharamik (ENG '71), the first recipient of the International Alumnus Award. The scholarship awards are renewable for up to four years provided that the student continues to meet all eligibility requirements and maintains good academic standing.

Capitol Club - Association of Old Crows Scholarship

Description:
This annual scholarship was established by the Capitol Club - Association of Old Crows. Recipients must be residents of Maryland, Virginia or the District of Columbia, and are selected on the basis of academic achievement and financial need.

George Corcoran Memorial Award
Recipient Type: Faculty
Eligibility:
To be used to award for significant contributions to electrical engineering-especially excellence in teaching and advancement of profession. Preference is for a member of the electrical engineer faculty not passed age of 35.
Description:
Established in memory of Professor George Corcoran, former member of the Electrical Engineering Department, for an award to be presented for significant contributions to electrical engineering, especially excellence in teaching and advancement of the profession. Preference is to be given to a member of the electrical engineering faculty who has not passed his or her 35th birthday by the time the award is made.

Jean and Everett Dillard Memorial Scholarship

Description:
This scholarship was created through a bequest from Jean M. Dillard and her son, Donald Dillard to provide annual scholarships for electrical engineering students in the A. James Clark School of Engineering. Selection criteria includes academic achievement, demonstrated financial need and the potential for contributions to the field of electrical engineering.

Established by George (EE'59) and July Fritkin to commemorate the 100 years of engineering education at the University of Maryland. This fund provides assistance to outstanding electrical engineering students.

Sujan Guha Memorial Award for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Leadership

One award each to graduating seniors in electrical engineering and economics for best thesis. Generally awarded for May graduation candidates.
Description:
Created by Dr. Arun K. Guha in honor of his son, Sujon Guha, a 1988 electrical engineering alumnus, to support graduating seniors for the best written theses in the fields of electrical engineering and economics.

William H. Korab, a 1964 Engineering alumnus, and Anne Korab Faffley, a 1969 alumna of the College of Arts and Sciences, established this fund in honor of their father, Arnold A. Korab, a 1938 Engineering alumnus. The scholarship supports outstanding Electrical Engineering students.

Judith Resnik Memorial Fellowship

Description:
This endowed fellowship fund was established by the University of Maryland, in memory and honor of University of Maryland engineering alumna, Judith Resnik, who passed away in the NASA Challenger Shuttle explosion. Recipients of the fellowship must be outstanding graduate students at the University of Maryland and will be selected based on academic merit and promise.

Description:
Established by Telecommunications Techniques Corporation in honor of its founder, UMD alumnus Joseph A. Sciulli, to assist a student in Electrical Engineering through his/her four years at the University. Student must be a Maryland resident and will be judged on their academic achievement and potential, esp. in math and science, rank in class, financial need, evidence of self-help, exemplary character and leadership potential, and a demonstrated interest in Electrical Engineering for a career.

Established by Trigen-Cinergy Solutions of College Park, LLC, to provide an operating fund to support a graduate fellowship in energy conversion through the Center for Environmental Energy Engineering and eight undergraduate scholarships. Junior and senior electrical and mechanical engineering students will be selected on the basis of academic merit and a demonstrated interest in studying energy conversion.

Wabtec Endowed Scholarship Fund

Description:
Established by Angel Bezos and Emilio A. Fernandez, two 1969 graduates of the school of engineering and co-founders of Pulse Electronics (later acquired by Wabtec), this fund provides an annual award to an engineering student enrolled at the Clark School of Engineering. Recipients shall be known as the Wabtec Endowed Scholars and are selected based on academic merit and financial need.
