Transfer Students
This page is designed to walk a student through the Transfer Credit Center's website. The pictures below can be enlarged by clicking on the picture.

To determine if a course at your home institution has an equivalent course here at UMCP, you can click the Transfer Course Lookup link, the first one in the left navigational pane

The website will give you two options: search for all courses at your home institution or a course by course search. If you desire to search for all courses and equivalencies for your home institution, click the first button, called CompleteSearch

You can enter the full name of your institution or part of the name to search for schools. Clicking submit will generate a list of schools that match your query.

Once the search has generated a list of schools, click on your school's name.

By selecting your school's link the website will display all courses and equivalencies. For example, Montgomery College's EE150 is equivalent to UMCP's ENEE150.

You'll notice that some courses have footnotes. If you click on the particular footnote the website will display all the footnote codes and their explanations.

If you are looking for a course to satisfy the UMCP's general education requirement you can see that if a course meets a general education requirement it is noted in the display. For example, EC201 at Montgomery College is equivalent to UMCP's ECON201. This course is an SB (social and behaviorla science) course in the general education.

If you have a current schedule at your home institution & want to see which courses on your schedule have equivalencies at UMCP, you can use the Course-by-Course method on the Transfer Credit Center's website

If you decide to use the Course-by-Course Search instead of the CompleteSearch you will still enter your school's name to generate a list of schools that match.

The system will generate the list. To continue, just select your school's name.

Once you select your school's name, you can enter the courses you are taking or are considering taking at your current institution to determine equivalencies.

The website will generate a chart that displays your schedule at your home institution, any UMCP equivalencies, if UMCP will accept that course credit, and if the course meets general education requirements.

If you need additional information, you can click the Transfer Info link, the fifth link on the left navigational pane, on the Transfer Credit Center's homepage.

The website will display several options for students curious about the process, other polices, and frequently asked questions.
