Understanding Matriculation Dates
Electrical & Computer Engineering

Matriculation is the act of enrolling as a member of a body or entity, especially of a college or university. Your UMCP matriculation date is the semester and year in which you officially enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland, College Park. The EE and CP curricula are indexed with respect to first semester freshman matriculation dates.

Transfer Students

If you have transferred from another university, then the exact curriculum that applies to you will depend on the courses you are transferring to UMCP. For transfer students from Maryland public universities and community colleges, your matriculation date at those schools may also determine what requirements you fall under. As a general rule of thumb, you can take the UMCP freshman matriculation date and add one year to determine which set of curriculum requirements applies to you.

In addition, transfer students have a limited amount of time to complete courses under an older set of curriculum requirements. After the established deadlines, older courses are phased out and students are then forced to complete the new requirements. For more information or questions about your specific circumstances please contact an advisor in the ECE Undergraduate Office.
